About Preferred Construction

Preferred Construction, LLC—where your living space becomes your dream space. We are a local, family-owned firm located centrally in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a passion for transforming houses into homes. Tim and Barb Shaughnessy bring their zeal to the helm of Preferred Construction, with over a quarter-century of expertise added to this bustling community.

At Preferred Construction LLC, we take pride in our work because we understand that we are not just building structures, but creating spaces where memories are made, and lives are lived. Our commitment to quality is evident in every nail driven and every brick laid, as we strive to exceed the expectations of the beloved community of Knoxville.

From the banks of the Tennessee River to the peak of the Smoky Mountains, we are honored to be a part of building homes that emanate warmth and joy. Our goal is to not only construct houses, but to create havens where families can thrive and create lasting memories.

Our Philosophy

At Preferred Construction, we think your house should be your private haven—not just a place to live. That’s why we design environments that improve living rather than merely building and remodeling. Whether it’s a grand indoor area or a small outdoor living space, we are here to bring your thoughts to life, guaranteeing style and needs are met with every project.

Licensed and insured, we strive to be the preferred choice for greater Knoxville kitchen remodels.
